IV (intravenous) Nutrition is a method of administering vitamins, minerals, and other natural substances directly into the bloodstream. It is a safe and effective method for quickly restoring key nutrients needed for energy production and optimal cellular function. IV Nutrition can provide a powerful “jump-start” to improving your health. Its profound effect gives it an important place in the co-management of numerous medical conditions. Here's an example of what happened when a terminally ill patient received intravenous vitamin C: Click here.
Why IV Nutrition?
Acute and chronic diseases consume key nutrients. Many prescription and over-the-counter medications deplete vitamins and minerals. Furthermore, as we age, our ability to absorb nutrients decreases. IV Nutrition drives nutrients into the cells within seconds by delivering them directly into the body’s circulation. The resultant cellular repair and revitalization can be dramatic and superior to oral nutrients. Some of the nutrients used include vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin D, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, and B12, minerals such as calcium and magnesium, amino acids such as taurine, and natural substances such as glutathione, lipoic acid, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), and phosphatidylcholine.
Therapeutic Applications
Besides general health optimization, here is a list of the conditions that may respond favorably to IV Nutrition:
Safety of IV Nutrition
IV Nutrition has a long safety record. The relative absence of serious side effects is due to the fact that the infused substances are naturally occurring and are essential nutrients required for normal functioning of the body. The most common side effect is a sensation of warmth as the IV is infused. Rarely, temporary dizziness and stomach upset may occur. Dr. Thomas tailors the IV ingredients to the given condition. Some people may have a fear of needles, but we do an excellent job of creating a warm, comfortable, relaxing environment for our patients. Depending on the IV nutrients used, treatment time can take 30 minutes to 3 hours.
Cost of Treatment
The cost for IV Nutrition can range from $150-$250 per treatment depending on the protocol. Blood work is required prior to starting treatment and includes a CBC (Complete Blood Count), Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, and a G6PD enzyme level. If you do have insurance, the cost for this blood work if done in our office is $75. Here are our most-used protocols:
Myers Cocktail $150 (click here for more information)
Glutathione Drip $150
